Register Your Midnight Wallet to Earn Dust

Overview​

With the launch of Midnight, there is an essential step you need to complete:

👉 Register your Midnight wallet to start generating Dust tokens.

Dust can be generated after registration, and it will be used as gas fees for transactions on the Midnight network.

Before getting started, make sure to check your Lace Wallet version.
If your version is outdated, you may not see the registration entry point.

Although it is still possible to access it through a direct connection, we strongly recommend updating Lace to the latest version to avoid any issues.

The entry point is the blue button labeled:

👉 “Midnight Registration” (as shown below) or https://midnight-dust-mainnet.nethermind.io/

After 12 hours, you will be able to see the Dust in your Midnight wallet.

Key Concepts​

1. BIP-44​

BIP-44 allows a single mnemonic phrase to generate wallets across multiple blockchains.

That’s why during the registration process, you’ll be asked:

  • Create a new Midnight wallet
  • Or reuse your existing Cardano wallet mnemonic

This is all enabled by the BIP-44 standard.

2. CIP-30​

When connecting your wallet, most dApps will recommend using:

  • Nami (no longer actively maintained)
  • Lace
  • Eternl

These wallets support the CIP-30 standard, which defines how wallets interact with web applications.
